Success Story: The X Club at Rollins College
This story was submitted by an undergraduate fraternity leader named Brad Baker, The X Club"s Social/Recruitment Chair.
A 90 year old local fraternity in Florida, The X Club, has Phired Up to thank for the strides it is making. In the 2009 Spring Rush, The X Club Fraternity acquired two new members. The total fraternity was 25 members strong. Since then, the membership has grown exponentially. The members of X Club attended Phired Up's social excellence and dynamic recruitment workshops for the first time in Spring 2010. The practices, the approach, and the science behind recruiting inspired the members to an extent that they revamped X Club's image, values and strategy. This has been possible by implementing Phired Up"s teachings, "you can"t recruit someone you don"t know," and has changed X-Club tremendously.
In two years, X Club is the fastest growing fraternity at Rollins College, the winner of the highest fraternity GPA for a decade straight, the best brotherhood, the organization most committed to community service and the winner of the Rollins College's Best Fraternity Award - 2012.
From a pledge class of 2 to 16 in the spring of 2011, and 24 this last year resulting in the largest chapter in history.
As Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has".
X-Club has grown from the smallest fraternity to one of the biggest in 3 years; X Club is a better version of itself. The phrase "quantity drives quality" has resonated within the X-Club members and in turn has motivated them to become "socially excellent". The best part about this change is that we never sacrificed quality, we always upheld our values of leadership, honor, valor and maintained the standards that have always been set even as the chapter size grew. The new members are not joining the social events that we put on, instead, they are joining the people in the organization, and surrounding themselves with those that will push them to to become the best version of themselves.
For the first time in many years X-Club has the ability to be selective in the new member recruitment.
