Subject: Thank You
My name is Josh Knust. You might not remember me, but I was the break-dancing volunteer during your keynote at this weekend's Divisional Conference for Delta Tau Delta in Lincoln, NE.
I never got the opportunity to pull you aside later in the day, so I guess email will have to suffice.
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your program. When I looked at the program for the conference, I saw that Phired Up! was listed for the keynote. I regret to say I was not excited. I'd seen Phired Up! presentations before, and don't get me wrong, you guys have great stuff. I had just seen the recruitment presentation two or three times and made the poor assumption that it would be the same thing (or similar) again.
To appreciate anything in this email, you must understand this: I have been to three Divisional Conferences and I am a UFI graduate. I am a former IFC Vice President of Recruitment and IFC President, and I have attended AFLV on behalf of IFC twice. I am not trying to toot my own horn, I am just saying that I've seen more presentations and participated in more break-out sessions than I can even count. In most cases, I have become numb to these activities, and I'm not moved by many of these presentations anymore.
I was moved by yours.
You did an absolutely fantastic job. Your messages on Social Excellence and Vulnerability were huge take-aways for me. You have an undeniable passion that rubs off on your audience.
I haven't been stirred like that about Greek Life since UIFI. I'm currently using my engineering lab print quotas (that should be reserved for schoolwork, haha) to print out the 75 "Be the person..." posters so that I can hang them up around our house tonight.
I just thought you should know. I wish I could have done this in person, but better this than not at all.
Thanks so much, Vince.
